A new trip - Reno, Neveda

Well we have been here in Reno NV for a couple of weeks now and things are going great. The weather for one has been much better than the Kansas weather we left. On our way here we got to stop at the Grand Canyon for a day which was amazing. The kids really loved it and did a great job on this road trip. I think they are starting to really like traveling - for now haha. Since we have been here we have already been hiking twice and have seen a lot of interesting things so far. I know we are planning trips to California, Lake Tahoe, and if we are lucky maybe get up into Oregon. Hope all is well back home and will update next week. (Pics - two are from Grand Canyon and the other is on our hike looking over all of Reno and sparks NV)

Thanksgiving

This year was or first Thanksgiving away from home in 33 years.  We did miss everyone at home but we had a great time here in the RV.  Heather made too much food but it was all good and of course plenty of football to watch.  We did start to decorate for Christmas.  We have found a church which we like and the kids seem to like.  Kids are still enjoying school just like any other kids do.  Loved a couple of days off before Thanksgiving and they are looking forward to time off for Christmas break.
We are waiting to hear where we are heading next looks like Texas is a big probability for us which would be fine for us, might be a little bit warmer for the winter. Hope that everyone had a great thanksgiving at home.

Another fun trip

Well we are in our third week in North Carolina and have been having a good time. The kids and I went to some civil war museums and grave sits that the kids loved. So cool to get to see some of these history pieces hands on. We just got back for a trip to the blue ridge mountains and got to go to a Apple orchard to pick Apple's and then to a cavern in which we were 2500feet into the mountain. Kids had a lot of fun and the views were just beautiful. I will keep you posted on our next location when we know.

NORTH CAROLINA

Well we are now in NC for 8 weeks. I think we are all a little depressed because we really loved the eastern shore and Tall Pines Harbor where we stayed. Our new place is okay nothing special but a nice place. We are going to go to myrtle beach and a lot of muesums around the area. There is a lot of history around these parts. Kids and school are going good and heathers job is good. Not sure we will ever do home health again but now we know. Looking at next location to be Arkansas or Georgia - as of right now. Will keep you posted. Take care.

The end is near

Well sorry I have not kept up with the weekly posts, Internet is horrible anf trys my patients.  Anyway we are 17 days out before we leave Virginia amd we believe that we are headed to North Carolina,  not sure where yet but it will be in NC. We have had a lot of excitement since I last wrote, Nanny and Papa came out to visit us and deliver our dog Bentley to us. We had a blast while they were here and the kids were so happy to see them. We now have a golf cart that we drive around in, the kids love it and so do we! We mad eit through wet and wild weekend 2 here at the campgrounds - much better on the golf cart (its just a water fight throughout the campgrounds). We have done some driving around and we found the real Krusty Crab, kids loved that. Labor day weeked was awesome, they had a lot of activities for the kids.  They rode ponies, danced the night away (with glow in the dark earings, nec and we took 4th in the sand building contest.  We have also made Tuesday nights our night for dinner out and a visit to the library.  I think we are all loving that we made this trip amd we have learned a lot while we have been here. Really excited to see what North Carolina has for us. Hope all of our family and friends are well back in Kansas.

Week4

Week 4 was great.  The kids started school with me as their teacher and we all survived and the kids are still eager for next week of school.  The week was a normal week with fun in the sun and good food from the new mini grill heather bought us. Friday we went to the Ocean after heather got of work and stayed all night having dinner on the beach and watching the sun set behind us. Brynn and I got to buggie board with the waves and Brody, Bridget, and Brayson played in the waves as the come up onto the beach.  Also on Friday the kids first friend here (Grayson) which was a little sad but then another boy moved in just across from us who was Brodys age so they have been having s good time playing. Which is great becsuse Brody needed someone to play with BAD.
Ok Saturday we did some running around in town amd the back to the camp grounds for wet and wild. This was an event that they put on here which is just a free for all of water balloons,  hoses, water guns, anything that you can get your hands on and have a water war for 6 hours.  Kids loved it and all the adults git in the action too.
Sunday was a relax day until the accident.  Brynn and Brody were playing with the guitar when it became a battle for who was holding it - someone let go and Bridget happen to be standing right in line with the flailing guitar.   It hit here in the cheek which produced a cut which required stitches.  We had to driv about 40 minutes to Salisbury to the immediate care center pulling in 2 minutes before they closed.  She got 2 stitches and all is well now.
Well starting week 5 here in Virginia and so far everything is great. The house is suppose ti close Tuesday and then life will be great! Miss all of our fsmily and we want to tell them that we love them.
Post next week.

Another week has gone by and it was another good one. The week started very slow because it rained Tuesday thru Friday all day everyday. But we were able to travel to Salisbury Friday night for Some food, shopping, and a Movie for the kids. Saturday went went again traveling this time to Lewes,DE . This was the first town in America very cool historic place. The kids loved the balding that still had a Cannon ball stuck into the foundation from the war of 1812 and its still there!
We went thru Ocean City Which is a Cool beach town with a lot of people and things to do. _ The kids were a little upset that they didn't get to Bade all of the fides they had but we Were not going to spend that much for Some rides : )
we went to tower beach to swim which is named after the WWII Gunnery Tower that sits by the beach . Kids liked that a lot.
This week has been the start of School and everything is off to a great start. Really hot this week but that has been good for School then take some pool Breaks and hit School Some more before Calling it a day.
Heather and I have been doing really good with helping each other Cook and clean So that has been really fun. Seems like back rubs every night for her Which I am okay with Since she is working so hard.

2 Weeks In

Well it has been a great travel so far for the Mohr family.  Heather really likes her new job and the kids and I starting to settle in nicely to our living arrangements.  Its has been nice to downsize and not have all the clutter that we used to have but the space has been an adjustment.
Okay on to the good stuff - we have haf some great trips to the beach on assuteague island and have had some good food and of course excellent ice cream. The 4th of July was a great week. Here at the campgrounds there were a lot of activities to keep us busy. The kids had a day of tie dying shirts ending in fun swimming on the bay, followed by fireworks on the beach. There were a lot of other activities that we did, dancing the night away with glow in the dark sticks, a parade here at the campgrounds followed by another night of fireworks.  We will keep the info coming! Love ya Kansas and our friends and family:)

Virginia Week 1

Well it has been one full week since the mohrs have been in our new home at Tall Pines Harbor Campground.  So far we have had a lot of fun with the different activities that the campgrounds puts on from music and dancing,  carnivals,  and of course the swimming pool and the beach.
Heather has had a good start to her new job and the drive is not bad at all from the campground.  She is home by 3:00 which is great for us to have family time with her everyday.  I think the kids have adjusted well to having me at home instead of there mother even though the are super thrilled when she gets home (so I am still number two :)).
Some of the exciting things we have done so far are swimming at the bay beach here, pool, dancing at the music activities,  and most importantly seeing the ocean and swimming at the ocean.   Brayson and Brody liked getting buried in the sand and Bridget loved making her own bed in the sand and of course Brynn wanted to go out and swim with the big waves which washed us both back up on the beach.  That was a great day for the kids for sure.
We still are planning on trips to D.C., Virginia Beach,  Jamestown,  and any other places we can get to on the weekends.  I will keep you up to date as we take these new adventures.
I will leave you with the last item that we have dealt with and that is the weather. The crazy thing is that they believe that they are in a heatwave here and the high is 91 for the week., there storms are severe with 35mph winds and some lightning,  and the humidity is not as bad as one would think.  I mean I can sweat just thinking about sweating and I have our A/C unit set at 80 - 82 and that would never happen in Kansas.  Now I would imagine a hurricane is something that I would not want to be around for.
Its been a blast so fsr anf hope to have many more memorable experiences to tell everyone about.
The Mohrs.

Snow day #2

Snow day #2 will be much better than todays.  I will sleep in and my kids will not make me want to stand outside in the snow without a coat.  I know that the idea of snow days is a good thing but sometimes when you have 4 kids locked in a house, you run out of things to do in a hurry.  A house is only so big and there are only so many things that you can do inside, haha.

By the way, our games scheduled for today have been rescheduled for February 10th.  Everything stays the same, home game and everything starts at 4:30pm with JV basketball.  Make plans to be there.  This may be the shortest homecoming week in history!!!!

Snow Days

So our school cancelled today because of this huge snow storm rolling thru the midwest.  It is sooo cold today that me and the kids can't enjoy the snow that is coming down.  I wonder if school will be cancelled tomorrow because of the snow and wind chill out there?  What are some things that you can do when you have a snow day, locked in your house with 4 kids?

Thank goodness for the Wii and its ability to purchase new games or you can even use netflix and watch TV shows or movies!  How technology is sooooo cool, really you dont even need to leave your house.  As long as you have food and family and the electric is working, then you can do anything you want right from the comfort of your living room.  How I do love the 21st Century!!!!!

District In-service

Today we had a district in-service.  Kevin Honeycutt came and spoke to our staff on a couple of different issues, bullying and cyber bulling and then 21st century tools/learning.  It was one of the best district in-services that I have been a part of.  Our technology didnt work the greatest but none the less everything worked out great.  I think our teachers took a way new ideas and more tools to use in their own classrooms which is always a good thing.  What makes a great in-service?  Is it the motivation factor, ideas, or is it just a day out of the classroom?

I think that having something motivate you as a teacher/administrator/whatever role you have is so very important.  Kevin brings stories, videos, and personal experience to this meeting and in other meetings I have seen him at, and that is what I believe makes a great in-service.  Something that is close to teachers hearts and makes them want to go out and try new things, that is what education is all about.  I hope that our staff takes what we have learned today and makes Belle Plaine the best school for our kids it can possible be.

Kevin, thank you for sharing your personal experiences and knowledge with us.  You are truely in it for the kids and your continued drive to make us and our students better is what makes you special.  I would recommend anyone looking for a true motivator and leader for kids, you should call Kevin Honeycutt!

Homecoming Week

Big week for our boys.  We have two home games against chaparral and then our homecoming game on Friday against Douglass.  Hope to keep the winning momentum going coming of two big wins at our mid-season tournament.  Our current record is 5-8.
